Showing Times

In each programme our duo are called in to solve the hidden history of a house, no matter how big or small, old or new.

Dr Nick Barratt is our archive specialist. Dr Jonathan Foyle is our architectural historian and archaeologist.

Jonathan and Nick investigate a flat conversion of a former asylum originally built in 1849, and later converted into flats.

Owner of one of the flats, Ian wants to find out what kind of people were patients here and which bit of the hospital was his flat part of.

Nick shows Ian original notes and photographs of the former patients held at the London Metropolitan Archives. Jonathan discovers many puzzles around the site. What are all these strange buildings and structures – an abandoned pump house with underground vaults? Jonathan begins to get to grips with the huge self-sufficient site that was this former lunatic asylum.

Nick pieces together a theory about one of the former patients – in fact he may well have been one of the prime suspects in the case of Jack the Ripper.
