Episode 8 – The Grange

Showing Times

In each programme our duo are called in to solve the hidden history of a house, no matter how big or small, old or new.

Dr Nick Barratt is our archive specialist. Dr Jonathan Foyle is our architectural historian and archaeologist.

The Hidden House History team are called in to investigate an original Tudor cottage that was extended in the Georgian period and then again in Victorian times.

Owners Sue and John have heard that there are tunnels in the garden – is this true and, if so, what were they for?

Local rumour suggests that the house used to be a convent and that the underground tunnels linked the house to a local monastery where a nun and monk conducted a secret affair… Can tracking down some of the house’s past residents help uncover the truth?
